Why the poison route never ends

Rats and mice are mammals. They are not insects, and they cannot be treated like insects.

Poison kills the individuals that eat it. It does not close the hole they came through, so the next ones move in and you buy the service again. That is why most Fresno pest control wants you on a quarterly plan — the arrangement only works if your problem never actually goes away.

We work the other side of it. Find every opening, close it with steel, remove the animals that are already inside, and verify that the activity has stopped. Then we are done, and you are not paying anyone every three months for the rest of the time you own the house.

Schedule of abatement

The same six steps on every job, in this order. The last one is the reason to call us instead of somebody else.

    Inspect the whole structure

    Ground to roof, and the attic. We find where they are getting in and what they have already chewed. Nothing else works until this is done.

    Seal every entry with steel

    Every opening, no matter how small, closed with steel. Rodents cannot chew through it. This is the part that makes the removal permanent.

    Set a dozen traps or more

    Through the house and the attic. Trap type matters and placement matters more — this is the part of the work that is a craft.

  4. 4

    Remove them as they are caught

    We come back, clear the traps, and keep monitoring for activity. No poison is used at any stage.

  5. 5

    Clean up and repair the damage

    When needed: droppings removed, contaminated insulation replaced, chewed electrical wire repaired, odor treated.

  6. 6

    Nothing caught, no activity — closed

    When the traps stay empty and the activity stops, the job is finished and we leave. Usually one to two weeks. There is no next visit to sign up for.

What it costs

There is no one price, and anybody who quotes you one over the internet has not looked at your house.

Rodent work is specialty work and every building is different. Call, describe what you are hearing and where, and you will get an estimate on the phone at no charge. Over the length of the problem it costs less than a quarterly poison contract, for the simple reason that it stops.
